A decision made fifty years ago by the Supreme Court was reversed yesterday because the Republican Party, unwilling to entertain an nominee appointed by Barack Obama, instead chose three justices during Trump’s administration, justices whose decisions and judicial philosophy were celebrated in the coming-out party of the radical right.
The devil is in the details.
It remains to be seen if women who leave a state where abortion is illegal will be prosecuted for traveling to one where it isn’t. A host of questions remains to be considered. One that isn’t is the direction that the Supreme Court is going, making decisions that will have strong impacts on the millions of people who never voted for them, who find their rulings to be out of touch with what they believe. Count me in as one of them.
Justice Clarence Thomas, who is married to an American traitor, was described and quoted. An opinion written by the nation's longest-serving justice is raising concerns that the high court could revisit other key cases. Justice Clarence Thomas suggested the court could re-examine decisions on access to contraception, same-sex relationships, and same-sex marriage.
He said “The court had a duty to correct the precedents.” Correct? He means impose his limited right wing autocratic people-be-damned opinion on the rest of us, all, of course, while being married to a woman who doesn’t believe in fair and free elections.
So, what do we do? We vote. If real Americans care enough they will show up in November and reclaim both the House and the Senate. And what else?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had this to say.
