Walking down a street in Dali we saw the preparations being made for a wedding. We were welcomed, given tea, and the opportunity to talk to and photograph those in attendance,
The Great Wall surrounding Xi’an. It was almost impossible to photograph Chinese without their phones. Using an app called “Wechat” they scan in prices and purchase whatever they want. No one uses money.
Built between 1370-1378 during the Ming Dynasty, the Xian ancient city wall is 14 km and surrounds the old city. On the day we visited runners were finishing a fund-raiser for a local hospital. It’s not clear whether or not the little boy ran the whole way.

On the train from Chengdu to Kunming we met the mothers of these little girls. They were headed to Kunming for two days of ice skating tests. P.S. We heard from Julia Zheng whose daughter passed her test. She told us that her husband reads the Bible to her daughter every night. It surprised us to find Christians in China.
A minority tribe in China, Bai women dress in a unique fashion. Many Chinese wear clothes with incomprehensible English sewn on.
Once we saw one of the 1,400,000,000 Chinese without a phone.
All the Chinese girls seem to buy glasses from one supplier, as they are all wire frames with large round lenses.
Every day people gather in the park. A leader begins a song and people join in, holding hands with people they’ve never seen before. Everyone knew the step. Unimaginable in Western culture.
No dirt, no cigarette butts, no graffiti. Mostly women, the sweepers are everywhere, day and night, rain or shine, or in the case of this one, on her phone.
